Some early thoughts:
Wasn't impressed with the early performance on defense. We didn't come out with a sense of urgency. Got back into it after a couple of minutes, but it'd be nice if we started fast.
Ogilvy is looking more polished and they're creating more space for him to operate, but man is he out of shape. He's going to have to be on the floor for more than 17-18 minutes a game.
Jenkins can flat out bury the three. Period.
Largely agree. One additional comment on Ogilvy, he's got to make his free throws.
I like that we're starting to make shots and we're doing it in a variety of ways -- dribble penetration, pick and pops, back doors, fast breaks. Movement on offense is key and it comes from ENERGY.
I was all excited to load up my computer and post a few thoughts on how good we look, then we get destroyed on the boards a few times.
This is the best we've played so far, but the rebounding will be a chronic problem. I don't see JJ ripping down too many, let alone AJ.
JJ's four point play made me fist pump in front of my grandmother.
VERY disappointed in the final five minutes of this half. NOT a good effort on defense. We should be winning this game by 3 if we had the capability of hitting free throws.
Kind of unreal that we played as poorly in the final 5 to 7 minutes of the half and are only down by 4. I actually though Arizona played quite well, so if that's any indication we should be pleased with where our ceiling is in comparison to theirs.
BUT, it's obvious we're nowhere near our potential. We still look clumsy and raw. Not a lot of fluidity out there on the court.
I don't believe that getting beat the way we do by good slashing players is a result of a total lack of lateral quickness. I think we lack confidence on both ends of the floor. Dominant teams come in KNOWING you're better than the other team. I don't see a single player who plays with that kind of abandon. Until we develop that sense of confidence, we're going to have growing pains, period.
And I need to stop ending my posts with period, period.

That is a big win. So glad we played better tonight, a little confidence coming back to the mainland. JJ is showing some growing pains, but I'm glad he's taking shots. They should start to fall.

The other positive was good ball movement which led to high percentage shots, like the Cincy game but without the misses.
I think the key is me not watching the game. I step away, and suddenly we pull away.
If we can play well consistently, we'll be as good as any team in the SEC. Those were two difficult games against Cincy and Zona, and there's no shame in splitting them.
