Brandt Snedeker: Everyone's a Fan

27-year-old Nashville native Brandt Snedeker hung in with the best in the game on golf's biggest stage for four days, coming up just short in the final round of the Masters today and finishing in third place behind champion Trevor Immelman and some guy named Tiger Woods.

I was disappointed that Sneds, the shaggy-haired Vanderbilt alum who went 68-69-70-77 and made the final pairing on both Saturday and Sunday, didn't play as well as he needed to to get his first major. That being said, I think today he may have positioned himself to become one of the most beloved players on the PGA Tour. He displayed exceptional class and an amazing attitude toward the game that the CBS commentators--and the gallery it seemed--just couldn't get enough of. He also pulled some fantastic pub for Vanderbilt, given how the exceptionally sappy Jim Nantz loves to recite a player's college, hobbies, pets, childhood heroes, medical history, and credit record at every possible opportunity.

I felt the collective unathletic leap into the air by Commodore fans across the nation when he drained that 35-foot eagle putt on the second hole to pull into a tie for the lead with eventual champ Immelman. Things went mostly downhill from there, but Snedeker remained positive and refused to let the smile leave his face. I have no doubt that he will learn from this experience and one day win a major. In case you couldn't tell from his heartrending post-round interview, he wants it pretty bad.

Was anyone else as jacked as I was watching this guy play golf?

I'm not a Vandy guy, but I enjoyed watching Snedeker play.

I did not, however, enjoy watching him cry like a little [sic] in every interview he gave after the tournament.

He's a grown man. And there's no crying in baseball...I mean, golf.

While i like watching Snedeker play i hate two things about him
1) He wears a visor
2) He cries
