Vanderbilt Baseball Elimination Game 1...Live Blogging

I will be live blogging throughout the game. Join me. You can follow on LiveStats from SECSports.com by clicking here, or listen to Joe Fisher's call by clicking here and selecting "Miss State" from VUCommodores.com at the bottom of the page. The game will start at the conclusion of the Alabama/UF game. Currently, Alabama is down 3-2, but has a runner on 1st and 1 out in the bottom of the ninth.

Update: Game will start at 2:40 EDT.

We're gonna move the live-blogging to the main page (good suggestion, Doc):

Vanderbilt goes 1,2,3 in the bottom of the 4th. Still lead 3-0 after 4 complete.

Top 5:
Price throws 8 pitches (48 for the game), Bulldogs go down in order. 2,3,4 due up for the Commodores.

Bottom 5:
Vanderbilt strands de la Oso, who got hit by a pitch and stole 2nd (19th of the season). Vanderbilt 3 - MSU 0

Top 6:
Price cruises again, gets a ground out and his first and second swinging K of the game (8 overall). So far, Price has only thrown 61 pitches...oh yeah, Mississippi State hasn't had a baserunner yet either. Vanderbilt 3 - MSU 0.

Bottom 6:
Vanderbilt goes 3 up, 3 down. Mississippi State hurler, Chad Crosswhite sets a new career high with his 8th K of the game. In the bottom of the 7th, Price will face the top of the line-up. As Joe Fisher keeps pointing out, he's faced the minimum so far.

Top 7:
No-no spoiled. Lead-off hitter reached. I blame myself, but I also blame Joe Fisher for constantly mentioning it.

Top 7:
RBI double for McCaskill. Vandebilt 3 - MSU 1.
Still no outs in the 7th.

Top 7:
After getting a much needed K, David gave up a double off the wall scoring McCaskill. Tying run in scoring position, Casey Weathers begins to throw in the pen.
Vanderbilt 3 - MSU 2

Top 7:
David Macias guns down Moreland at the plate with a great throw from center to preserve the lead. Vanderbilt 3 - MSU 2

Middle 7:
Price gets out of the inning, despite being roughed up. MSU gets 2 runs on 4 hits and strads 1. He's thrown 87 pitches, and I don't know whether or not CTC will have him back out for the 8th. Personally, I think he should let he face at least one batter. John Lalor to pitch for Mississippi State after a great outing from Crosswhite. Vanderbilt 3 - MSU 2

Bottom 7:
3 up, 3 down. But will Price pitch the 8th? With the 7,8,9 hitters coming up, I think he should. They are a combined 0-6 against Price.
Vanderbilt 3 - MSU 2

Top 8:
Price is in to start the 8th.

Top 8:
Price strikes out the first batter for his 10th of the game (11th game this season of 10+ K's). Andrew Giobbi's diving stop down the 1st base line swallowed up a double. Pinch hitter came in for MSU. The 6'5, 240 lbs. Jeff Flagg seemed to scare the crap out of Joe Fisher. All the same, David Price showed why he is the best pitcher in the country, blew 3 by the sopohomore for his 11th K of the game. I have 95 pitches for Price (although Joe has him at 98). 1,2,3 due up for the Bulldogs , Vanderbilt has 3,4,5 and could really use an insurance run. I would be surprised if CTC gives Price a chance to finish what he started after getting roughed up by the top of the Mississippi State line-up in the 7th.

Bottom 8:
Nothing across for the Commodores. Price pitches the 9th.
Vanderbilt 3 - MSU 2

Top 9:
BALLGAME OVER, COMMIES WIN...THHHHEEEEE COMMIES WIN.

MSU has the tying run reach 2nd on a double. CTC rolls the dice and wins. Price gets out of the jam, gets his 5th complete game of the season. Price threw 115 pitches and will face the loser of Ole Miss/UT.

FiNAL: Vanderbilt 3 - MSU 2

3 up, 3 down. Price threw 12 pitches and retired the Bulldogs in order. Commodores will bat in the bottom half of the first and look to get off to a better start today than they did yesterday.

Got something going in the 1st...Feinberg walked, de la Osa signled. First two on with Pedro coming to the plate.

Can't get the job done...two looking strike-outs and a well hit ball from Shea that was tracked down by the MSU centerfielder. 0 runs, 1 hit, 2 left. After one...0-0

An economy of pitches for Price. Through 2, he's thrown 26 pitches, and struck out 4, all looking.

Crosswhite fans 3, walks 1. After 2 complete, still 0-0

Quick top half. Price threw just 6 pitches, Ked one, and got some defensive help from a Feinberg barehand. Price has only thrown 32 pitches through 3, welcoming news after his 130+ pitch outing last Thursday.

Top of the order for the Commies, hopefully they can get something started.

Runners on the corners...Vanderbilt's already got 2 in as Pedro, Flaherty (extending his hit streak to 26), and Robin get back-to-back-to-back singles.

Vanderbilt gets another when Shea Robin got caught in a run-down, allowing Flaherty to score from 3rd. After 3, Vanderbilt 3 - Mississippi State 0

Through 4 innings of work, David Price was 6 strike-outs, all looking. He has thrown just 40 pitches.

7,8,9 coming to bat for the Commies.
