Vanderbilt #1 Seed

The NCAA announced their field of 64 earlier today and as luck would have it, Vanderbilt was named the #1 overall seed of the tournament. Vanderbilt will face #4 seed Austin Peay this Friday at 7pm CDT at Hawkins Field. Vanderbilt beat AP earlier this season 8-0 behind Matt Minor's 8 inning, 3 hit, 0 run outing. It was the freshman's first win of his Vanderbilt career.

Michigan and Memphis will also square off in Nashville. This is a great draw both for Vanderbilt and for the university's ticket office. The fact that 3 of the 4 teams are within driving distance from Nashville certainly bodes well. According to an ESPN analyst, whose name I didn't get, Vanderbilt has the easiest draw (not surprising considering their #1 overall seed).

We'll be breaking down the NCAA tournament all week at the Vanderbilt Sports Line, and it's possible, we might even have a podcast for ya.

In the meantime, here are the articles in today's papers.

"Vanderbilt to Host NCAA Regional" in today's Tennessean by Mo Patton. Mo also wrote about how the SEC Tournament took its toll on the Vanderbilt pitching staff, luckily they have until Friday to rest up.
