Senior Sendoff: Lady 'Dores Upset #7 LSU

The Lady Commodores are on fire right now having picked up seven straight wins, and this one is the biggest of them all.

In the final home game for this year's seniors, the Commies fended off a solid comeback from #7 LSU to pick up the win 68-58. Carla Thomas led the way with 23 points, Dee Davis had 17, and Caroline Williams and Christina Wirth had 12 a piece to lead the way and against the nation's number one scoring defense. The girls shot 54.2 percent from the field. The girls came out strong jumping out to an early 18-5 lead, but valiant performances from LSU's Erica White (22 points) and Sylvia Fowles (17 points, 10 rebounds) put the Tigers back in the game in the second half as they led 46-41 with 14 minutes. But the 'Dores went on a huge 10-0 run from that point, and after that they would not relinquish the lead again.

This win was the first for the Commies against a top-10 opponent since March 2003 and pulls the girls even closer to a first round bye in the SEC tournament. LSU has struggled down the stretch and has dropped their third out of four coming into the final game of the year.

The ladies play #2 Tennessee on Sunday in Knoxville, their record currently stands at 24-4, and 10-3 in the SEC.
