Breaking News: Goff to Return for Final Year

The Commodores' football program got some great news today when Jonathan Goff announced that he would be returning for his senior season. The All-SEC linebacker called Bobby Johnson this afternoon to let him know of his decision.

Goff recently received a preliminary evaluation of his 2007 NFL Draft status and decided his best decision was to stick with the team for another year. Bobby Johnson said that Goff told him "that he was looking forward to coming back and helping our team get better," and that "it was in his best interests to come back, continue to work hard, and keep improving."

Goff finished the season with 93 total tackles, good for eigth in the SEC, with 67 solo tackles. He also recorded 2.5 sacks, 6 TFLs, and 2 forced fumbles. Goff was named second team All-SEC this past year.

HUGE. This is the best news of the offseason so far. He'll be a preseason-first teamer and, maybe more importantly, will be the general of our defense--we need the leadership.
